Pearl
Pearl jewelry in baroque and raw white pearl drops, black pearl studs and rings, mother of pearl O-rings, and a cuban link choker with a pearl on it. Rings run from a dainty single pearl to a daisy eternity band and a curved crown. Baroque pearls are irregular by nature, so shape and luster shift from piece to piece.

What to expect from your Pearl
Stones, metals, delivery windows, sizing and daily wear, gathered in one place.
Are your pearls real?
Yes. They are genuine freshwater pearls, baroque and raw, grown by mollusks and chosen for shape and luster. The mother of pearl pieces are shell nacre cut flat, and the black pearls are freshwater pearls in a dark finish.
What does baroque mean?
Baroque means the pearl formed off round, with ridges, folds and an off-center drape. No two are alike, which is the point; the photos show the style and scale, not your exact pearl.
How should I care for pearl jewelry?
Put pearls on last, after perfume and hairspray, keep them dry, wipe with a soft cloth and store them away from harder stones that could scratch the nacre.
A closer look at Pearl
Pearl is the June birthstone and the only gem here grown by an animal rather than the earth. Baroque means the pearl formed off round, with ridges, folds and an off-center drape that catches light down one side. Mother of pearl is the same nacre, cut flat from the shell, which is why those O-ring pieces read whiter and more even. Each pearl is set by hand in our Atlanta studio on 14k gold-filled (1/20) chains and posts. Pearls dislike perfume, hairspray and chlorine, so put them on last and wipe them with a soft cloth. White suits most skin tones and dresses up easily; the black pearl pieces and the cuban link choker are the ones to reach for if you want pearl without looking traditional.
What does pearl mean?
Pearl is the stone of purity, wisdom and calm in cultures from China to Rome to the Persian Gulf. Chinese tradition linked pearls to dragons, which are drawn chasing a flaming pearl; Hindu texts make the pearl the gem of the Moon; Europeans wore it as a symbol of innocence and faith. Because a pearl grows slowly inside a living creature, crystal practitioners describe it as a stone of patience, nurturing and composure, linked to the heart chakra and the water element. Gemini and Cancer are its signs.
How do people work with pearl?
Pearls are not cleansed like minerals. Practitioners let them sit in the light of a full moon, wipe them with a soft cloth, and wear them often, since the oils of the skin keep the nacre bright. A pearl is traditionally the stone to wear when you want to stay composed. For a set piece, we suggest moonlight, sound or a soft dry cloth for cleansing and charging. Water, salt and soil are hard on the setting and the plating, and the stone does not need them.
How has pearl been used through history?
Pearls were the most valuable gems in the ancient world; Rome passed laws restricting who could wear them, and Cleopatra is said to have dissolved one in vinegar to win a bet with Antony. Natural pearl fishing nearly exhausted the Persian Gulf and Sri Lankan beds, and when Kokichi Mikimoto perfected culturing in the early 1900s the pearl went from royal to attainable.
Where does pearl come from?
A pearl forms when a mollusk coats an irritant in layer after layer of nacre. Freshwater pearls come mostly from China; saltwater Akoya from Japan; Tahitian and South Sea pearls from French Polynesia and Australia. Ours are baroque and raw freshwater pearls, chosen for shape and luster rather than roundness. Our pearls are freshwater, chosen for shape and luster rather than roundness, which means we are buying the baroque pearls the matched-strand trade sets aside. Mother of pearl is shell nacre, cut flat.
Is raw pearl good for everyday wear?
Pearls are soft and organic. Put them on last, after perfume and hairspray, keep them dry, wipe with a soft cloth and store them apart from harder stones.
